The Garden Flipper DLC is out now on Steam for £10.25/€11.24/$13.49, or fractionally cheaper in a bundle with the main game. Still, a lot of interesting stuff, but perhaps best off waiting for a patch and/or discount. While that last point is arguably realistic and why we should outlaw plants, gardens and people who enjoy mucking around outdoors, it probably doesn't make for a great expansion. Trees unable to be removed, missions not completing properly, and a few cases of people getting stuck horribly inside the foliage they just planted. Initial Steam user reviews bring up a lot of small bugs that add up to a messy whole. Good for the green-fingered then.Īs with the original game, it seems that there's some teething troubles with this expansion. Developers Empyrean boast that there's over five hundred new items, many with variants, and more than two hundred and fifty plant types. Credit where due they've replicated a whole mess of gardening-related challenges, from shovelling gravel, digging holes, mowing and strimming with a variety of tools and assembling piles of garden furniture. There's seventeen gardens to renovate and eight game systems, which you can see showcased below. I may grumble (I've done too much gardening already), but it looks like a feature-packed expansion. The majority of other achievements within the Garden DLC can be done at your First Office. Mow lawns, install garden furniture, plant flowers and generally act like you're part of the Gardener's World B-team. As the title might suggest, this one is about all things outdoors. Released today, it's the first major expansion for House Flipper, Empyrean's game of cleaning up other people's messes and ordering shedloads of virtual Ikea furniture to conceal interior design sins. If you've not seen House Flipper before, check out our Matthew's video and dear god avert your eyes when he shows the state of his own real-world residence those windows are augh.As someone who has rolled lawns, built decking, knocked down old conservatories and more, I cannot think of few things I'd rather simulate less than the contents of Garden Flipper. That does seem a touch steep, given that the base game itself costs $20 and still needs polish, but it is adding a whole load of new stuff. Garden Flipper will hit Steam on May 16th at $15, publishers Frozen District announced yesterday. After years of living in upstairs flats, I've got quite the indoor garden going on.Īlong with planting flowers and trees and all that, Garden Flipper will have us clear up rubbish, slap down garden furniture, mow lawns, erect playground equipment (this will still be simple and predefined, of course, rather than the chaotic assembly of something like Home Improvisation), putting in pools, and so on. I don't expect it to be particularly dynamic or creative, but I do like planting and designing gardens. Some good gardens in there with some interesting designs, far nicer than I was expecting given how canned much of the housework is. The possibilities really do look quite nice. I didn't stick with House Flipper for long because I found myself wishing the renovation was more like the physics-driven chaos of Viscera Cleanup Detail rather than just clicking to make things go, but I might be tempted back by these gardens. As you might guess from the name, you clever little detective you, it'll send us out to renovate gardens as well as homes. The curious do 'em up House Flipper will go outside in the sunshine in May with its first paid expansion, Garden Flipper.
